Great Blue Heron

Florida has spectacular wildlife and an abundance of flora - and bugs!  But I'll ignore the bugs and enjoy the beauty this state has to share with any who are willing to get out of their cars and air conditioned houses and explore!

Country Life.

The smell of homemade biscuits, fresh eggs, and a rasher of bacon cooking in the kitchen.  Coffee black and strong.  Yeah - you can have all that in a city.  But my soul seeks that fresh air and the sound of birds, not traffic, early in the morning.  Clear skies, not smog, and at night you can see all the Milky Way.  You work hard.  And play hard.  Eat hearty.  And sleep well.

Simple.

Joy

I absolutely, without hesitation or doubt, Love photography.  There has never been a time when I have not been excited about a new photo project.  There has never been a time when my camera has not shown me some new and wondrous vision of the World.

I think a child's eye must live in my camera.  Because when I look through that lens, everything I see, is for the first time...

Is It A Car...Or Mirror? It's Both!

I've seen this car several times - and it always takes my breath away.  Bill, from Wild Bill's Tattoos, has some of the coolest cars.  This is my fav - and i love the way the swirls of clouds reflect on the mirrored hood.  And the stranger looking on on the corner of the bumper...

A Lovely Engagement

These friends of mine are powerlifters and when they made their announcement for their engagement, I immediately thought of shooting at the gym where they work out.  We had a great time despite the cold and ended up speading several hours trying different set-ups.  I think the results speak for themselves!

They both have the unusual quality of being able to look into the camera.  Many are unnerved by a camera's laser-like focus, as if the camera were able to capture skeletons in the closet.  But this couple not only looked directly at the camera, but through it.  Literally looking through the looking glass!

I like the grittiness of this photo - it speaks more of the realistic nature of relationships than a polished photo.  And it has a believable tenderness that transcends what our ideas of perfection are - which is a fantasy to be sure.

The "American Gothic" for powerlifters.  This is certainly not a typical engagement shot but I like it nonetheless.  It has as a quiet power and tension that is very expressive.  There is so much at work here - a delightful play of directness and hidden secrets.

This shot says a lot without the fuss.  It's humorous.  It's direct.  And it pulls no punches.  Personality plus.
